Personal Data

I have been born in 1947 in the Aplerbeck suburb of the city of Dortmund. Three fourth of my roots are Westphalian and can be found in the area between the cities of Soest, Hamm, Dortmund and Menden. One fourth of my ancestors lived in the East Brandenburg and Posen area which is now Poland. Since 1961 I am living in the beautiful medieval town of Wertheim which is located on the Main and Tauber Rivers.

My profession is editor. After having left the university, I spent a period of training and my first years as a young editor in the staff of the Dortmund newspaper Ruhr-Nachrichten. For 17 years, I worked in the editorial staff of the Würzburg newspaper Main-Post. Since 1990, I am the editor of the more than 230 years old newspaper Wertheimer Zeitung which is since half a century part of the Main-Echo publishing house in Aschaffenburg.

For my favorite hobbies - genealogy, and (no longer that important:) amateur radio, and shortwave listening - there are separate sites. The corresponding hyper links are shown in the left hand window.

Sometime in the future, there will be sites dealing with the history of the former "Grafschaft Wertheim" (Wertheim County) and with the Wertheim Historical Association "Historischer Verein Wertheim".
